Our belief system is ingrained in us from birth. It encompasses various aspects such as Family, Culture, Community, Society, and Religion. While there is a shared rationale behind these beliefs, we each interpret them in our own unique way.
When we embrace beliefs and incorporate them into our perception of reality, they serve as a starting point for our actions and progress. For instance, consider the case of a mother in the 1960s who may have cautioned her son that masturbation is sinful, warning him that he might lose his hand if he repeated the act.
This article is intended for individuals who are contemplating or questioning the process of altering their beliefs. Typically, those who find themselves at a juncture in life where they feel compelled to scrutinize their beliefs may sense an inner awareness that something may be amiss. Their perception of reality no longer aligns with their core beliefs.
Challenging personal beliefs can be likened to the task of an inner investigator. Often, beliefs are deeply ingrained in the subconscious, and as individuals begin to introspect in this manner, a plethora of emotions and sentiments may arise. Initially, they might even perceive their past life as a falsehood.
My point is that when individuals evaluate their beliefs, they may come to the realization that a belief no longer resonates with them. Consequently, they embark on a quest for a more authentic truth. In the process of scrutinizing their beliefs, individuals may ponder questions such as: Why do I/we hold this belief? If I no longer subscribe to this belief, what do I believe instead?
At the heart of changing beliefs lies the pursuit of truth. When individuals alter their beliefs, it opens up the potential for their reality and life to transform. Have you ever experienced being in a car with someone who confidently declares, "I never encounter a red light!"? This person firmly believes that they only come across green lights while driving. Similarly, perhaps you've accompanied someone who claims, "I always secure the front parking spot!" Or you might be familiar with a friend who perceives that others dislike them, and in their world, this belief holds true.
Our thoughts, feelings, and statements shape our reality. A limiting belief can hinder the fulfillment of our deepest desires. During an Aura Reading session with a client, he expressed, "It's hard if you're unaware." I pointed out that this mindset was a barrier in his energy field - he could instead adopt the belief that "life becomes simpler when I'm unsure of what to do next." Holding the belief that difficulty arises from uncertainty would make every instance of not knowing a challenge for him. On the other hand, embracing the idea that life gets easier when he's uncertain was far more beneficial and constructive. His reality will align with this new perspective.
If you are currently reflecting on your beliefs, remember to be gentle and kind to yourself. Take your time; there's no need to rush into changing everything all at once. Enjoy the process, observe your thoughts, and analyze your beliefs. Strive to understand the core of your beliefs. For instance, I once had a friend who struggled to admit when she was wrong because she associated being wrong with imperfection. She believed that admitting fault would tarnish her image of perfection. Is it sustainable to always make others wrong in order to feel right and perfect? Probably not, as people are unlikely to stick around for long. At that time, my friend was unaware of this belief pattern, but from an outside perspective, it was evident.
One year in October, just before winter, I began to feel the onset of a cold. As I lay in bed, I pondered why I consistently fell ill at this time every year. In my family, community, and society, winter is commonly associated with the cold and flu season. I questioned whether I needed to continue accepting this pattern of getting sick annually. Through meditation, I consciously let go of this belief from my energetic health space, and since then, I have not experienced a cold or flu for the past 5 years.
